The Town lists the Calhoun Street Dock as a public place for fishing and boating. Oyster Factory Park at 55 Wharf Street includes boat-ramp access, picnic tables, restrooms and views of the May River.

The Town of Bluffton describes the Bluffton Oyster Company as the last hand-shucking factory in South Carolina. The river’s oyster culture remains part of the town’s working identity.
