Things to do in Bluffton, SC.

Bluffton is easiest to enjoy when you build the day around a few anchors: Old Town, the May River, a park, a good meal and enough unscheduled time to wander.

01 · Old Town

Start with the part of Bluffton built for wandering.

Old Town is Bluffton’s historic core. The Town says the Bluffton Historic District was placed on the National Register in 1996, and the local Old Town district covers the community’s original one-square-mile area.

Walk Calhoun Street, stop at the Church of the Cross, visit the Heyward House, browse galleries and shops, then keep going until the street meets the river.

02 · The river

Make the May River part of the day.

The Town’s parks system includes public river access, and the Calhoun Street Dock can be used for fishing and boating. Oyster Factory Park adds a public boat ramp, picnic space and direct views of the May River.

If you want more time on the water, local guides offer paddling, fishing, wildlife and boat-trip options. Conditions are tidal, so confirm launch, tide and weather details before heading out.

03 · Build the day

Add food, parks and local culture without overplanning.

A morning in Old Town can turn into lunch, a park stop, a river view, an art gallery or an event without needing a complicated itinerary.
